This card is part of a tarot deck I've created entitled Chain of Life Tarot, comprised of vintage photographic imagery altered and added to in Photoshop. I've been taking the art I've created for each card in the Upper Arcana and turning them into pendant necklaces.
This is the Hanged One, a card that represents sacrifice. There is always a need for sacrifice in every life. Parents sacrifice their own wants and needs for their children; a fireman sacrifices his life to put out fires or save lives. Sacrifices are evident in our everyday lives. There is no greater sacrifice than a soldier's, so I chose this imagery to portray sacrifice: A soldier parachuting down into enemy territory, near a guard station is a modern day version of the hanged one.
This design is a combination of three different vintage photographs, the guard at his post, the close up man with a parachute and the parachutes in the distance. This is an original art piece.
The necklace and frame that this picture is in is of my design and manufactured for me. It measures from the outside edges, 1in. x 1- 11/16in. or 32mm x 40mm. It comes in antiqued silver-plate or antiqued gold-plate. In a larger format, it allows the art to be better seen. It opens up and a new picture can be slid into the frame. The chain necklace measures 18 inches long.
